It's got controller support for all three games, which is something that I don't feel mods could ever get done right. That said, if you already own Doom 1, 2, 3, and the Resurrection of Evil expansion, I don't know if $30 will sell you on it. And I liked it a whole lot there, and I like it a whole lot here. The level design also seems a fair bit different, though that's because the Xbox version was gimped to get it to work well on there.

If you only have BFG Edition, this may work with the RBDOOM-3-BFG source port with a bit of tinkering, but I didnвЂ™t check to see if it worked.This is the first time I've played Doom 3 on the PC and it looks a billion times better than it did on the Xbox.

Despite the name, Doom 3: BFG Edition doesnвЂ™t work with this mod natively, as that game does drastic changes to id Tech 4вЂ™s codebase, which break mods made for the original Doom 3. You can get it on Steam or buy a second-hand PC copy to play it. Please note: Classic Doom for Doom 3 requires Doom 3 (natch). At least it was better than Far Cry was, but not as much as Half-Life 2. You can download it from their ModDB page here. ItвЂ™s worth checking out if youвЂ™re looking for more Doom 3 stuff to play. They did a good job here, and for a long time it was the only Doom 3 mod IвЂ™ve heard of thatвЂ™s wasnвЂ™t some co-op multiplayer mod. Remaking older games on newer engines is a nice treat, and still being done today with stuff like Black Mesa. In spite of the hilarious cutscenes and mixed level design, Classic Doom for Doom 3 is a pretty fun mod all things considered. Gotta give them credit for keeping the spirit of the original as much as possible. Hell, it wouldвЂ™ve been funny to see them tackle Doom II and try to figure out Sandy PetersenвЂ™s abominations like The Chasm or Nirvana and make them actually look like realisticВ locations. Which is sad, because I wouldвЂ™ve loved to see them try to remake later levels like the Slough of Despair with itвЂ™s hand-shaped level layout, or Mt. Or maybe it was, who knows?ДЄlas, the mod team decided not to continue remaking the later episodes of Doom, likely for legal reasons. IвЂ™ll give them points for originality, but this is hilarious to watch, which is probably not the mod teamвЂ™s intent.

The mod ends with a hilarious cutscene of Doomguy ripping through enemies while some guy narrates the ending text screen from episode 1 in a modulated voice. I mean, itвЂ™s idTech4 weвЂ™re talking here, IвЂ™m not expecting these to be well lit. The mod ends with E1M8: Phobos Anomaly, fighting the olвЂ™ Bruiser Brothers вЂ“ a pair of Hell Knights in this case вЂ“ and the fightвЂ™s no different than the original, just in a much darker space. Sonic Clang does a good job with the remixes, which you can listen to on his official YouTube page or on Spotify. A lot of the more subdued tracks in the original DoomвЂ™s soundtrack keep that same atmosphere without trying to overdo it like some metal remixes IвЂ™ve heard.

ItвЂ™s like they gave up.ДЄs for the music, itвЂ™s rockinвЂ™ remixes of Bobby PrinceвЂ™s stuff from the original game. This doesnвЂ™t look nearly as good as the earlier levels.
